Civil War historian and author Stewart Bennett will discuss the book he
co-authored with Barbara Tillery entitled,
The Struggle for the Life of the
Republic: A Civil War Narrative by Brevet Major Charles Dana Miller, 76th
Ohio Volunteer
Infantry at the University of Maine at Machias Merrill
Library on Thursday, March 10, at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome
to attend
this literary event, organized by Marianne Thibodeau, Associate Librarian
at UMM. Stewart will discuss the
historical significance of this chapter in
the Civil War and copies of the book, co-authored by Bennett and Barbara
Tillery,
will be available for purchase. Refreshments will be served
Stewart Bennett, who joined the professional staff at UMM
last year as
Director of Admissions, earned a Master of Arts degree in history from
Youngstown State University. Prior
to coming to UMM, he served other
institutions as an adjunct professor of history teaching American History
and Civil
War and Reconstruction.
